About this presentation
This presentation provides an overview of Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), an evidence-based, skills-focused treatment designed to address the emotion regulation and interpersonal disturbances characteristic of complex PTSD.
Participants will learn about the theoretical foundations of STAIR, its core treatment components, and the evidence supporting its use as both a standalone intervention and as a preparatory phase before trauma-focused therapy.
Special attention will be given to how strengthening emotion regulation, self-compassion, and interpersonal effectiveness can improve treatment engagement, support recovery, and address challenges commonly experienced by individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. Research findings and practical clinical strategies for implementing STAIR in routine practice will also be discussed.
